Story
Story
No pile, no tufting glue — just wool weft pulled tight across a wool warp by hand. Reversible, built to last.
The wool is hand-spun and vegetable-dyed, so colour varies slightly across the piece — abrash, the fingerprint of a small dye lot.
292 × 81 cm (9'7" x 2'8"). This exact kilim exists once — when it sells, the listing stays marked sold, not relisted.

Hand-spun wool, coloured with root and bark, gives each Flatweave Kilim its organic banded palette — no two rugs off the same loom ever match exactly.

Woven flat, thread by thread
Each kilim takes weeks on the loom. Wool is hand-spun, dyed across our 98-colour library, then woven flat — no knots, no pile, just tight interlocking weft. Reversible by nature, and built to last decades.

What is a flatweave kilim?
What is a flatweave kilim?
There are no knots at all — the coloured wool weft is woven directly through the cotton warp, packed tight to hide it completely. Flat on both sides, so it's reversible. No two are ever identical.
Where is this rug made?
Where is this rug made?
Direct from our loom in Western Afghanistan, Maimana. No agent, no importer, no showroom margin.
How do you offer such low prices?
How do you offer such low prices?
We cut out the layers that inflate rug prices elsewhere — no agent, no importer, no showroom margin. You're buying direct from the loom, the same rug a UK retailer would mark up three or four times before it reached their showroom floor. Label STEP audits confirm that saving isn't coming out of the weaver's wage.
What does Label STEP certified mean?
What does Label STEP certified mean?
Label STEP is an independent Swiss auditor, verifying fair wages, no child labour, and safe working conditions at the loom. Our parent company, Imam Carpets, is one of only two Label STEP certified manufacturers in Pakistan, and Imaco Rugs is itself a listed Label STEP dealer — every rug here is covered loom-to-living-room.
How do I clean a flatweave kilim?
How do I clean a flatweave kilim?
Vacuum on a standard setting — no pile to protect, so the beater bar is fine. Blot spills straight away with a clean cloth, never rub. Being reversible, you can flip it for even wear instead of rotating. For a deep clean, use a specialist handmade-rug cleaner.
What room size does this rug fit?
What room size does this rug fit?
Check the size chart above. As a guide, leave 20–30cm of floor showing around the rug in a living room, or fit it under the front two legs of a sofa.
Is it suitable for high-traffic areas?
Is it suitable for high-traffic areas?
Yes — especially so. The flat, low profile handles doors and heavy furniture without a second thought, and it's reversible, so wear splits across both sides over the years.
