What is a Suzani rug?
Suzani comes from the Persian word suzan, meaning needle. It began as embroidered cloth, with the pattern stitched by hand. A Suzani rug carries that embroidery on a kilim, a flat rug with no pile.
How ours are made
Most rugs here are embroidered kilims. The embroidery is done by hand, so no two patterns match exactly. A few pieces are hand-knotted instead, and their titles say so, for example Suzani Modern Chobi.
Choosing a size
Leave about 30 cm of bare floor around the edge of the rug. In a living room, the front legs of the sofa and chairs should sit on the rug. Every listing gives its exact size in cm.
