What counts as a black rug?
Black is the darkest end of the neutral range. The rugs on this page have black as a main colour or as the ground of the pattern. Some carry a second colour, and the listing photos show which.

The largest black rug in stock is 352 × 263 cm (11'7" × 8'8"). Several more hand-knotted pieces sit between 278 × 244 cm and 305 × 244 cm. For a dining table, measure the table and add 60 cm on each side.

Black wool rugs
Some of the hand-knotted black rugs here are wool, and the listing says which fibre each rug is. Hand-knotted rugs have a pile that feels thicker underfoot. Flatweaves lie flat.
One rug per listing
Most pieces here are one of a kind. Each listing shows the exact rug in cm, and most show one rug in stock. When it sells, that size and design may not come back.
Frequently asked questions
What size black rug suits a living room?
Leave the front legs of the sofa and armchairs on the rug. The black rugs in stock for that job run from about 240 × 158 cm to 352 × 263 cm. Measure your seating area in cm, then check the size shown on each listing.
How big are the large black rugs?
The largest black rug in stock is 352 × 263 cm (11'7" × 8'8"). Each listing shows its exact size in cm, so you can check it against your room.
Are your black rugs made of wool?
Some of the hand-knotted black rugs are wool, and the listing says which fibre each rug is. Flatweave and Suzani kilim pieces list their construction too.
Do black rugs show dust and fluff?
A dark rug shows pale dust and fluff sooner than a mid-tone one, so regular vacuuming matters. Our wool rug care guide has the full steps.
Should I choose a hand-knotted or a flatweave black rug?
Choose hand-knotted for a thicker pile underfoot. Choose flatweave for a rug that lies flat under doors and chair legs. Both come in black here, and each listing names its construction.
