Story
Story
The trellis is Beni Ourain in origin, a Moroccan design that has outlived every trend it has been folded into. We knot ours on the loom in Pakistan, in undyed hand-spun wool on a cotton foundation, so the cream you see is the fleece's own colour rather than a dye.
Hand-knotted, not tufted. A tufted rug is glued; this one is tied, knot by knot, and is built for decades in a hallway rather than years.
Made once. This piece exists a single time — ask for the design in another size or palette and we weave it fresh rather than restock.
Woven under Label STEP, the Swiss fair-trade certification for handmade carpets: audited pay, safe conditions, no child labour.

- Substantial weight won't slide on hardwood; natural dyes age gracefully over time.
Ghazni wool, spun by hand and coloured with root and bark, gives Chobi Baft its warm, banded palette — no two rugs off the same loom ever match exactly.
Knotted by hand, one knot at a time
Each rug takes weeks on the loom. Wool is hand-spun, dyed across our 98-colour library, then knotted row by row. Slow by design, and built to last decades.

What is a hand-knotted rug?
What is a hand-knotted rug?
Every knot is tied by hand, one at a time, on a traditional loom. A single rug can take weeks to finish, depending on size and knot density. No two are ever identical.
Where is this rug made?

Direct from our loom in Pakistan. No agent, no importer, no showroom margin.
How do you offer such low prices?
How do you offer such low prices?
We cut out the layers that inflate rug prices elsewhere — no agent, no importer, no showroom margin. You're buying direct from the loom, the same rug a UK retailer would mark up three or four times before it reached their showroom floor. Label STEP audits confirm that saving isn't coming out of the weaver's wage.
What does Label STEP certified mean?
What does Label STEP certified mean?
Label STEP is an independent Swiss auditor, verifying fair wages, no child labour, and safe working conditions at the loom. Our parent company, Imam Carpets, is one of only two Label STEP certified manufacturers in Pakistan, and Imaco Rugs is itself a listed Label STEP dealer — every rug here is covered loom-to-living-room.
How do I clean a hand-knotted rug?
How do I clean a hand-knotted rug?
Vacuum gently without the beater bar, and rotate the rug every few months for even wear. Blot spills straight away with a clean cloth — never rub. For a deep clean, use a specialist handmade-rug cleaner, not a home carpet-cleaning machine.
What room size does this rug fit?
What room size does this rug fit?
Check the size chart above. As a guide, leave 20–30cm of floor showing around the rug in a living room, or fit it under the front two legs of a sofa.
Is it suitable for high-traffic areas?
Is it suitable for high-traffic areas?
Yes. Hand-knotted wool is dense and hard-wearing — built to be walked on for decades, not just looked at.

We don't have a UK showroom. Use the Request a Custom Order form on this page to ask for a fabric swatch first, and we'll arrange it before you commit to the full rug.
