Alfombras escandinavas

What is a Scandinavian kilim?
A kilim is a flatweave: the weft passes over and under the warp to build the pattern, so there is no pile. A Scandinavian kilim is a kilim in a clean, Scandinavian-influenced design.
Halls and daily use
With no pile to flatten, a kilim takes shoes and daily walking without matting down. For a hall, measure the length first and leave a little bare floor at each end.
How much floor to leave
Leave about 30 cm of bare floor around the edge of the rug. In a living room, the front legs of the sofa and chairs should sit on the rug.
Frequently asked questions
What is a Scandinavian kilim?
A kilim is a flatweave with no pile. A Scandinavian kilim is a kilim in a clean, Scandinavian-influenced design.
What is the difference between a kilim and a pile rug?
A kilim is a flatweave. The weft is woven across the warp, so there is no pile and the pattern shows on both sides. A pile rug has knotted or tufted yarn standing up from a backing.
Can a Scandinavian kilim go in a hall?
Yes. A kilim has no pile to crush, so a kilim runner suits a hall. Every listing shows its exact length in cm.
Will a sold Scandinavian kilim come back?
Each listing is one rug. When it sells, that listing closes. A rug of the same design may be listed separately, and it will not match exactly.
